Art from the Margins (AFTM) in partnership with BEMAC is inviting expressions of interest from Asian refugee artists or Australian artists with a refugee heritage for inclusion in our 2020 AFTM BrisAsia exhibition.

The exhibition is scheduled to coincide with the 2020 BrisAsia Festival, an initiative of Brisbane City Council. Launched in 2013, BrisAsia is an annual festival showcasing contemporary and traditional Asian arts and cultural events, programs and initiatives. The festival provides professional and creative sector development opportunities for Brisbane-based creatives with a strong interest in the Asia region and whose creative practice is reflective of this.

Located in Fortitude Valley, the AFTM Gallery & Studios encourages submissions from Asian refugee artists, or professional visual art and craft practitioners working with Asian refugee communities or Australian artists with a refugee heritage, for consideration in the exhibition. The theme for the 2020 exhibition is “Joy”.

Submissions are encouraged from Asian refugee artists, or professional visual art and craft practitioners working with Asian refugee communities or Australian artists with refugee heritage. Expression of interest forms available to download below. Artists may submit up to six artworks.

Display dates: 28 January – 29 February 2020
