Black Dog, Blue Butterflies
In Australia over 45% of the population will experience mental health issues at some stage of their lives. Add in all of the people who are affected when a loved one experiences mental health issues and there would be very few people unaffected.
This exhibition, developed by Moreton Bay Regional Council, draws its title from the well-known euphemism ‘the black dog’ for one of the most common mental health issues, depression. While butterflies refers to another very common affliction, that of anxiety.
Black Dogs, Blue Butterflies brings artists living with adversity together to break down the stigma associated with living with mental health conditions, physical or intellectual disabilities.
